Adventure and discovery awaits in Margaret River

Margaret River is located in the South West corner of Western Australia. Traditional custodians of the land are the Wadandi Pibelmen people and their culture spans back 50,000 years. Wadandi or Saltwater People have a deep understanding of the land in which the Margaret River flows through. Rich soils make for well known agriculture which is the region's most popular tourism attribute.

The town was named after the river which was thought to originate from Margaret Whicher, cousin of John Garrett Bussell (Founder of nearby Busselton). Known for logging and timber through the late 1800’s, this ceased as vineyards and agriculture started to really take off.

Margaret River’s famous wine region

Today, there are over 140 vineyards in the region of Margaret River. The area provides up to 20% of Australia’s premium wine export. In the last decade the craft brewery scene has grown to astonishing heights, none more so than in Margaret River, where craft breweries line the streets and waterfronts.
